This the newest official route to climb Mount Kilimanjaro; it is the longest route and the most beautiful of them all. The fact that this route is the longest guarantees the highest success rate because the longer the route, the higher the chance of making it to the summit.
Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO)

On this day you will be transferred from the airport to your hotel in Arusha; you can decide to spend the day relaxing or exploring the city.
Day 1: Arusha – Londorossi Gate (2250m) – Big Tree Camp (2780 m)
After a delicious breakfast you will be driven to Londorossi Gate(2250m: where you will get registered ready to begin the ascent; the mountain crew team will take care of you baggage and mountain gear.
After being registered you will be driven up a rough bumpy road until you read the drop off point where the ascent begins taking you through lush rainforests until you reach big Tree Camp(2250m) after 3 to 4 hours. Dinner and overnight stay will be enjoy at this camp.
Day 2: Big Tree Camp (2780 m) – Shira Camp 1 (3,500 m)
You will trek through a trail that starts in rainforests and you will observe vegetation get scarce as you climb higher until reaching the moorland where shrubs dominate. You will also trek over the Shira plateau, going past the eroded remains of some of the most ancient kilimanjaro vents. After 4 to 5 hours you will arrive at Shira Camp 1 from where you can view the snow capped summit of Kibo. Dinner and overnight stay Shira Camp 1.
Day 3: Shira Camp 1 (3,500 m) – Shira Camp 2 (3,900 m)
On this day you will hike to the summit of Shira Cathedral which is one of the most outstanding natural landmarks on Kilimanjaro. After reaching Shira Cathedral we will march forward until we reach Shira Camp 2(3900m) from where Mount Meru can be see in the distance. Dinner and overnight stay at Shira Camp 2.
Day 4: Shira Camp 2 (3900m) – Lava Tower (4,630 m) – Moir Hut (4200m)
After breakfast you will leave Shira Camp 2 and trek towards the Lava Tower(4630m); where you will 1 to 2 hours enjoy lunch and allowing the body to acclimatize to that altitude. After lunch you will trek slightly higher before descending to moir Hut(4200m); here you will stay for the night.
Day 5: Moir Hut (4200m) – Buffalo Camp (4020m)
You will take a short steep climb from the Moir Valley to the to of the lent hills before returning to the main trail; at this point the path goes through a rock filed before reaching Buffalo camp(4020m). The route passes close to the Kenyan border so you will get to enjoy great views of Tsavo and Amboseli. Dinner and overnight stay at Buffalo Camp. On this day you will hike high(4200m) but sleep low(4020m).
Day 6: Buffalo Camp (4020m) – 3rd Cave Camp (3870)
You will continue circling the northern side of the mountain with great views of the Kenya interior the whole day. Upon arriving at 3rd Cave Camp(3870m) the route will meet the traditional Rongai route. By this day your body will have already acclimatized to the altitude of 4000 which will leave you feeling generally well in such altitude. Dinner and overnight stay at 3rd Cave Camp.
Day 7: 3rd Cave Camp (3870) – School Hut (4750m)
After a long and steady climb the route will lead us to the Saddle which is an almost plantless land that resembles the moon i.e lunar. The peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi can be seen on either side of the saddle. You will reach School early in the afternoon; the rest of the day will be spent resting in preparation for the final ascent to the summit at midnight.
Day 8: School Hut (4750m) – Uhuru Peak (5,895m) – Mweka Camp(3,100 m)
The day starts at around midnight where you will ascend to Gilman’s point which is within the crater rim of mount kilimanjaro. At Gilman’s point you will watch the sunrise over the peak of Mawenzi; after which you will continue trekking for 1 to 2 hours before reaching Uhuru Peak which is the “Roof of Africa”.
You will descend to Barafu Camp where lunch will be served; after lunch you will proceed with descent to Mweka camp. At Mweka camp dinner will be served and thereafter you will tuck in for the night.
Day 9: Mweka Camp(3100m) – Mweka Gate(1980m) – Arusha
After breakfast you will descend through the rainforest after which you will reach Mweka Gate where our drive will be waiting ready to transfer you to your hotel in Arusha. The rest of the day will be spent leisurely at the hotel.
